Reef Rangers- The New Marine Ambassadors
What’s a perfect opportunity to train students to be the next generation of marine ambassadors for our oceans? Well, the Reef Ranger Program, of course. For many, it is also the memory of a lifetime!

The Activities
Upon arrival at Dolphin Encounters, the kids receive their own private dolphin orientation, learning about the physiology of our native Atlantic bottlenose dolphin. Kids also learn how they are cared for and work with their animal trainers, and why it is important to protect the Ocean and marine wildlife on which the Bahamian culture depends.
Down in their program, the kids learn more about the animals up close and in person. Between all the splashing and laughter, the trainer tests the kids on their knowledge of dolphins, conservation and our fantastic Oceans. Once the interaction is done, student can self-tour of DE and see the rest of our animals. To top off the whole experience, each child receives an official Reef Ranger T-shirt, a Marine Activity Kit & a Sea Tag Award!
And of course, this once-in-a-lifetime experience would not be complete without a photo. Each program includes a free photo of the child being kissed by a dolphin!

The Goal of Reef Ranger
Over 1,000 kids participate each year in the Reef Ranger Program! To bring marine education to the classroom took the joint efforts of BREEF and Dolphin Encounters. To bring the kids into the water took the magical touch of dolphins. Now that may not have sounded challenging until you know that many Bahamians do not know how to swim.
In a country of 700 islands, making students into Reef Rangers means training the next generation of marine ambassadors, building a future for the waters of the Caribbean and beyond. Call for more information.

Teaching Teachers A New Reverence for Marine Life
The Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation set out to raise local awareness of marine matters beginning with teachers. Drawing from over 200 schools in the Bahamas, BREEF selects 30 teachers each year from both the public and private schools, completely funding a two-week seminar.
The chairman of BREEF, Sir Nicholas Nuttall, believed that together with Dolphin Encounters, we could use the network of teachers who had attended BREEF's program to create several new educational opportunities for Bahamian students. The partnership has paid off: over 140 teachers have attended BREEF’s summer workshop and many of them utilize DE-Project Beach programs as a core component of their science curriculum. With a new reverence for marine life, teachers are taking every opportunity to bring the Ocean to the classroom. In this case, the dolphins are the teachers!
