Dolphin Encounters’ Warm Up Winter Special

Though temperatures have dropped ever so slightly, the sun is shining and the water is just as beautiful as it always has been. That’s why, this month, Dolphin Encounters is presenting its Warm Up Winter Specials to year-round beach enthusiasts.

The special, which runs until February 28, offers discounted rates to local residents who can’t wait for summer to sit on the seaside. For only $30 plus VAT, local adults and kids can spend the day on Blue Lagoon Island with the aqua and tropical bounce parks at their fingertips. With shaded hammocks, a tranquil lagoon, family-friendly activities and a sweet island breeze, Blue Lagoon Island offers Family Island-style relaxation just 20 minutes from Paradise Island – and for a fraction of the cost! Parents can even leave the cooler at home, because the Blue Lagoon team has lunch covered with a grilled buffet-style selection of burgers (including a vegetarian option), hot dogs, chicken and all the sides. Normally valued at $48, the package offers a near-40 percent discount and a 100 percent guaranteed good time.

It would be nearly impossible to make a trip to Blue Lagoon Island without noticing some of its famous residents. The Dolphin Encounters family of 18 are always around, performing tricks, playing and popping up to say hello to their visitors. Now, their good behavior is being rewarded with more winter-time visitors. Blue Lagoon Island and Dolphin Encounters are offering the Dolphin Close Encounter to local residents for 50 percent off – meaning guests will get all the fun for half the price.

The Dolphin Encounter program gives participants the chance to meet and greet Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins. The program starts with an educational orientation covering the history of dolphins, the importance of ocean conservation and various animal training techniques. During the encounter, visitors stand on a waist-deep submerged platform where they touch and hug one of the Dolphin Encounters family. An experienced trainer stands on the platform encouraging the dolphin to perform for guests.

Like the beach day special, this offer is on until February 28. Boats depart from the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal for Blue Lagoon Island daily at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Bookings can be made by telephone at 363-1003.
