International Coastal Cleanup Postponed in Light of Hurricane Dorian’s Impact

In light of the impact Hurricane Dorian has had on the country, the International Coastal Cleanup scheduled at Coral Harbor on Saturday, September 21st has been postponed.

As the host for the annual event in Nassau, we at Blue Lagoon Island feel that our focus should remain on helping those benefitting directly from relief efforts.

This will also allow sponsors to divert donations committed for the cleanup to be directed to relief efforts.

We are asking everyone who had planned to join us for the beach clean up to instead spend that time as a volunteer with any one of the many organizations set up to help our brothers and sisters in need.

Keeping our coastline clean of marine debris is still extremely important and we hope to reschedule the International Coastal Cleanup in Nassau in the future when it is appropriate to switch focus.

If anyone wishes to spend that day cleaning up a beach, we invite you to download the Clean Swell app for Apple or Android devices to record your efforts.

Additionally, if any schools or children’s organizations are interested in participating in aBeach Buddy Program offered by Dolphin Encounters-Project B.E.A.C.H., please contact the Blue Lagoon Island Education Department at education@dolphinencounters.com or 242-359-0278.

We remain Abaco Strong. Grand Bahama Strong. Bahamas Strong.
